The Silver Mist™ (Magnolia virginiana ‘Silver Mist’ ™) gets its name from its distinct silver-backed leaves that are extremely showy on a windy day. Not only are the underside of the leaves spectacular, but the discovery of the ‘Silver Mist’™ nearly three years ago also brings about a tree that has a much fuller growth habit and dis- plays an absolute conical shape. It has a compact growth habit present on both the branches and with leaves. Another feature of the ‘Silver Mist’™ that separates it from other Sweetbay Magnolias is that it is a profuse bloomer from May until August.
