The Firebush 'Calusa'® is an All Native Selection from Brightman Logan that adds attractive foliage and flowers to a landscape year-round while drawing in butterflies and hummingbirds to its flowers and fruit. The unique features that are found only with the 'Calusa'® are its eye-catching, brighter, red-orange blooms and denser growing habit. The leaves hold a much darker shade of red than the typical Firebush and it is also more resistant to fungus. The Firebush 'Calusa'® blooms continuously throughout the year and has a more uniform appearance in comparison to other varieties of Firebush. In severe cold the Firebush will die back, however it will flush rapidly with new growth after the last frost.
